Math-MATE's Mission
To reduce barriers to mathematics and basic numeracy in Newfoundland and Labrador through accessible, curriculum-aligned educational technology. The platform is designed to support learners who are underserved by traditional approaches, particularly individuals with learning disabilities, ADHD, and those with limited access to tutoring or specialized supports in rural and remote communities. Math-MATE delivers research-informed games and assistive features, and generates private learning insights that help tutors and guardians target instruction and next steps. Our goal is to improve confidence, engagement, and foundational numeracy skills by offering a single, organized space to screen, practice, track progress, and support intervention.

First Day of Testing Math-MATE
March 29, 2026 · LDANL Office, St. John's, NL

On March 29, 2026, the Math-MATE team gathered at the LDANL office in St. John's for the first day of testing Math-MATE. It was a milestone moment, the first time our games were used by children with learning disabilities in a guided setting. The session gave us invaluable feedback on accessibility, engagement, and usability, and confirmed that the platform is making a real difference. Watching children interact with the games, solve problems at their own pace, and genuinely enjoy the experience reminded us why this project matters.
